The Baker Hughes, my first 10K run!

Last Sunday I ran my first 10K. A group of us from Deer Digital (Angus, Jim, Becky, Scott G, Scott F and I) ran the Baker Hughes, in aid of Befriend a Child.
When I first agreed to run, I decided that I would train for about two months. It seemed like an excellent idea, as I'm sure I get far from the amount of exercise I need. A plethora of excuses followed as to why I couldn't go out for a run night after night. Too wet out, too dry out, too late, other things to do.
I did eventually manage to squeeze in a couple of 6Ks, and finally resolved to the fact that I would have to walk a couple of parts of the race. Based on my times for my trial runs, I was aiming to finish in 1 hour 20 mins.
The day before the race, it occurred to me that if I wasn't running competitively, and was running for fun and for charity, then it was only right I do it in a silly way.
My cunning plan turned out to be to run the entire race in my Kilt and Kilt socks. I can tell you that was warm! I finally finished the race, with a clock time of 1 hour 12 mins, and more importantly a chip time of 1 hour 7 minutes and 11 seconds.

I did thoroughly enjoy the run, and will definitely take part next year. What's more, I actually intend to train for the next one, and am aiming to get a chip time of just under 1 hour, with no walking!
Well done to everyone who ran, and a huge thanks to Sean for getting a great photo me!
